Recipe Guidelines

Helpful Hints in Writing a recipe:

  • Ingredient List
    List ingredients in the order they are used; do not list brand names of ingredients.
  • Mixing Instructions
    Large bowl, small saucepan; etc. Are ingredients mixed with a whisk or food processor, by hand, etc.
  • Baking Instructions
    If cookies are baked, how long, at what temperature, is oven preheated, also: how to test for doneness
  • Cooling Instructions
    Cooling time, are cookies removed from pan then placed on wire racks? Time on racks, etc.
  • Yield
    How many cookies at what size? Example: bar cookies could be cut in 1-inch squares, yielding 24.
  • Storage Information
    Do they need to be refrigerated? Can it be frozen? For how long?
